Best Day Ever

Today I was in full grandma-little girl- age eight mode. I adjust my age to match the grandchild who is visiting. Today it was Max who will be eight on Tuesday. We already had his birthday party, but I gave him choices. We both collect rocks. He chose my giant amethyst crystal. I was glad to give it to him. We played hide and seek. He got stuck under a small desk. I had to help him untangle himself. We made a video of ourselves being silly. He played it twice. I have never had such messy hair. I lie. My hair is usually this messy. We laughed about silly stuff. Grandpa bought a movie for him for four dollars. He watched three minutes and then said “Let’s watch the end.” His aunt, my daughter, does this all the time. I thought it was hilarious! We watched twelve minutes total. He did not want to go home, but we had to. He does not get to live here. He lives with our daughter, his mother. She took a nap while he was here. She was grateful, and I was grateful. In the car I taught him an old game my Daddy taught to me. “I see a skunk” – I one it, I two it, I three it. He slowed down at six and refused to say “I ate it” This is the first time I ever remember any child doing this. The rest of the way he played “I saw a fox, I saw a crane, I saw an opossum”. I was delighted. Best day ever.

Thanks for taking us along for the day, Caren. I enjoyed it. You have a fine grandson who will, hopefully, grow up with the imagination and creativity of his grandmother.
