Beside Still Waters

Beside Still Waters Beside still waters you refresh my soul After crossing the desert, you renew my thirsty heart Beside your still waters I will find a cooling shade In your aspen grove washed by gentle rains. I come to your quiet waters nourished by your love In the shadow of morning I find I am renewed. When I go down into your waters I rise up anew As the dawning day - fresh as morning dew. Then you give me living waters. I will never thirst again. I praise you for this new life flowing from your wellspring! Abiding by your still waters in your meadows green I rest at midday, sheltered 'neath your wings serene You lead me to still waters bidding me to sit with you Abide in your embrace to rest at your peaceful pool. "When I go down into your waters I rise up anew As the dawning day - fresh as morning dew"...... What a cooling and refreshing feel this poem offers ! As the lady at the well got the promise that after drinking from the well of living waters, she won't feel thirsty, we too shall be appeased of our gnawing thirst once we drink from the cup of His Love... These words echo many scriptural images: the living water, the miraculous water from the rock, the waters of baptism, the woman at the well, and of course the still waters of Ps 23. Your lyrics emanate the serenity and confidence of a lamb following the Good Shepherd. Beautiful and worshipful, Sam. Congratulations for your win.

Many, many thanks dear friend! Had a feeling you would pick up all of the references! In this time of worldwide chaos we need a place to abide in the warm caressing embrace of our God. This revised lyric is part of a song/poem suite - Pilgrim's Journey. Had completely forgotten about the songs until Robert's contest reminded me of them written as theme songs for retreat team preparation over six weeks. Just realized there was an album in the poems and music! Blessings of still waters to you!
