Beside Myself

Oh, I believe I deserve to hurt,
The day is slipping by
as the sun pours molten gold
along the western horizon
forging a shield of burnished shadows.

Now as a robust moon rises
to embellish the night sky
Alas, I am beside myself
and in the throes of frenzied agony...

After much beseeching
She finally consented to a moonlight rendezvous—
But where?
For the life of me I just couldn’t recall!

'Yes', she said, when I asked for a date. 'Yes' she said, a second time, for a moonlight tryst. Where? I didn't want to push my luck a third time!
