Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold
took a bride
who batted her eyes,
and said, "which side?"
"the Brits?", he slowly uttered -
knowing which side his bread was buttered.

I thought the same as CayCay! Seems like a betrayal to change the subject ;)

Hi Kim, check out my replay to CayCay below. Like she says, poor Benedict Arnold, his name is right next to "traitor" in the dictionary.

Do I simply live in the gutter or was my impression that she was referring to which side of the bed correct? It's the gutter for me, isn't it? No, I'm right, no, yes ... Oh, me. Poor Arnold, to go down in history as an example of what not to be is quite sad and irreversible. Don't worry about my confusion, others will know 'the what' my brain fails to hold.

Haha, great minds think alike - talking about you and Kim. I guess a great thing about poetry is that everyone has their own interpretation. I see how my poem seems to suggest that now they you mention it, though. Nope, my brain wasn't in the gutter. I was watching the Ken Burns American Revolution doc, and became interested in our BA. His wife was one of the many Tories (Brit sympathizers) with connections. It seems funny that she might have had such a big role in history.
