Beneath the Silent Shadow of My Grace
Matthew 6:10
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
My dream, like Mother Mary holding her sweet boy with care,
Had already embraced my seventh-generation cat, standing there.
Why was I so blind, so slow to see?
This holy angel’s gentle touch, this whisper close to me.
Why did I blame you, in my bitter, blind despair,
When His divine decree was already answered there?
— Amen —
Though tears and sorrow make me weep and sigh,
My seventh-generation cat tends to my weary, weeping cry.
He weeps for me, in grace that cannot die.
Why was I so blind, through all this space?
"Beneath the lamp, a darkened place."
With this truth within my soul, in silent grief,
I bow in a T-shaped cross, seeking my soul’s relief,
Confessing all my sins, seeking His holy leaf.
— Amen —
You went into the forest deep, to hunt with iron and lead,
Where a lonely, weary deer stood, with gold upon its head.
With eyes so bright and innocent, filled with a sudden thrill,
He looked at you to say hello, in greeting soft and still—
Yet you fired your thunderous gun, while his eyes, so pure and mild,
Were blinking back in starry hope, like an adoring child.
