Beloved Dad
I have gathered lessons like sacred stones,
Each one a pillar in the house you built for me.
From you, I learned the quiet gravity of accountability,
The soft, enduring pulse of unfailing love,
And the steady, unbreakable rhythm of trust.
You taught me that prayer is a bridge,
That family is the soil in which we root,
And that silence, when held by you,
Is a language more profound than any spoken word.
Perhaps you feared that in teaching me to stand,
The distance between us would only grow—
That these lessons would be the wind that blew us apart.
But instead, they have become the gravity
That pulls me closer to the man you are.
I have seen the shadow of a world without a father,
But I live in the light of a man who is friend, mentor, and guide**.
I am the harvest of your tireless seasons;
You sheltered the spark until it became a flame,
You dressed my spirit in confidence,
And fed my soul with the bread of your wisdom.
You did not simply point toward the path—
You stepped into the dust and walked it with me.
In your laughter, I find a trillion reasons to hope;
In your stride, I find the blueprint for my own feet.
You are the hero etched into my daily breath,
The miracle I get to witness in the quiet of a Tuesday,
The hope I hold when the world grows loud.
I live by the strength you gave me,
And I would spend my final breath declaring it:
I love you, Dad.
Yesterday, today, and into the forever.
Your Son.
