Believer
I wrote a long beautiful poem
poetically and inspirational all the way
to my friend who grants me comfort
is there to listen to whatever I say
I have been in the dumps
gloom is what I see out the window
despair is what fills my mind
life for me is just not so.
it’s more than just an attitude
don’t tell me it's not so
you always have an opened ear
have some tea, please don’t go.
I’ve known you all my life
you’re more than just a friend
have walked with me for many steps
you know where I have been.
I have talked to you from in the dark
called upon you most any time,
you stood by me and cared
picked me up to help me climb
no one could replace your companionship
you’ve given me the hope of the morning light
I feel you at my side when I’m troubled
and watched over me throughout the night
you won’t take a gift of my appreciation
but yet you continue with kindness
I know you have never stepped away
turned a deaf ear or looked in blindness
I have a mere token of gratitude
will hang it on my bedpost
when you visit hang it on the other side
its my belief that matters the most
