Belated Lessons

.

Although really belatedly,
much could still be learned

         from slowly growing older
         about how one could have

         lived youthful, vibrant life
         in a more purposeful way.

And from lingering illness
and dying itself, profound

         lessons on health and living;
         only they're much too late

         for the frantic, final learning
         of the sick and the dying.

Very true... we often do learn vital lessons when it is already too late!
