Being Me

Being Me

I believe that each of us
Has a role to play
We will be judged by how we act
Defined by what we say

I think time will shape us
Mold us with its will
Determine our direction
As our destinies fulfill

I feel as if the way I am
Was born in me because
A lot of who I am today
Resembles who I was

I muse about who I would be
Of another time or name
How would this have changed me
Would my values be the same

I wonder if it matters
What I turn out to be
For regardless what else I become
I’ll always still be me
