Behind These Walls

Walls of a building, structure barrier, defense or division keeping something in or out a screen, monstrosity feature of varied size built for a reason perhaps something to hide or show off like shop or museum Behind these walls there is a person that dwells Within that person there are walls specifically built barriers, defences that hold things in or out guarding the heart mind and soul protecting deepest depths of the unknown Secrets and treasures precious and personal Maintain them well for once they come crumbling tumbling down Who knows what lurks within Nice or nasty yours to decide But do not trespass or pry for you may not like what it is you find

I really like this Anne. It's almost haunting to me, and so mystical. I love the similarities between our inner self, and a brick and mortar structure. Deep thoughts my fellow poet, deep thoughts. These "walls" are so enticing at times, but as your last two lines indicate, may not be something we want to find on the other side. Thanks for sharing. Hugs.

We put up too many walls these days, Anna-Marie. People seem to take no interest in others all too often. I know that is not the case with you though, dear, and this poem is an example of why I have such high regard for you. Peace and blessings, Carolyn

What a beautiful comparision Anna-Marie. The last stanza is apt and fitting end for this deep poem. Thanks for the kind comments. Thank God it isn't my present situation.
