Behind the Mask: I'm Okay

In the darkness, I'm okay, I pretend
A mask I wear, my heart does mend
A forest lost, a brother's betrayal sharp
A pain that cuts, a wound that won't scar

I'm searching for green pastures, a new way to be
But like a bird with broken wings, I'm learning to flee
I found a farm, two cows by my side
But love distracted me, and it all slipped away, I died

My goddess, my heart, she's gone, she's free
Left me with nothing, but tears, a sea
I'm trying to be strong, but it's hard to breathe
I'm okay, I say, but it's a lie, I'm on my knees

I'm okay, they say, but I'm lost and blue
I'm trying to find my way, but it's hard to get through
I'm okay, I whisper, but it's hard to convince
Myself, my heart, that I'm still alive, still intense

I'm okay, but the pain won't subside
A constant ache, a sorrow that won't hide
I'm okay, but tears fall like rain
Washing away my heart, my soul, my pain.

I'm okay, I say, with a voice so weak
A fragile soul, a heart that's about to break
I'm trying to hold on, but it's slipping away
I'm okay, I say, but I'm drowning in dismay.

I'm okay, but the night is dark
A lonely silence, a cold, empty spark
I'm searching for a light, a guiding star
But it's hard to find my way, when I'm lost, so far.

I'm okay, I say, with tears in my eyes
A heart that's breaking, a soul that's compromised
I'm trying to be strong, but it's hard to hide
The pain I'm feeling, the tears I can't deny.
