Behind Me Is the Real Me

Walking around with a sway in my stride,
people thinking I am the deadly sin of pride.
Always smiling from one corner of my mouth,
people look me up and down, from north to south.

I talk with a subtle, loud, deep voice,
and I do it by choice.
Men want the confidence I possess,
because they see me and see success.

But I'll be honest, I'm not what I seem.
Truth be told, I have no self-esteem.
I walk around with a plastic smile on my face,
it covers up my issues, that I hide and replace.

I just repress who I really am,
so I'm basically just a walking scam.
Once I showed people what's inside
after that it stayed in and partially died.

So the next time you see me living in vain,
don't forget, underneath is a lot of pain.
