Behind It All

What I feel inside is something I usually hide
No one sees the tears behind my smile,
the sadness behind the jokes
or the pain behind my eyes

What I think about is for me to know
and for everyone else, just a question
I don't show emotions, so everyone thinks I'm fine
Even though there's so much more then the happy girl

On the outside, everything is fine
But once you look inside...
You'll see where the pain comes from
But you won't be able to tell, behind my angel smile

Boy can I relate to this. This was me in high school. No one even knew what I was battling inside...what happened once I got home. School was my refuge...and I hid everything with a smile. Oh the masks we wear...check out my poem I wrote when I was 14 (i think). It's called, "What's in a name".
