Beginnings

She took his breathe away.
A face so exquisite no artist
would dare to paint,
no seasoned poet could describe,
for written words were non-existent.
He was transfixed by her beauty.
She truly had him believing in
love at first sight and meeting her
had changed everything.
She made the sky bluer, the stars brighter,
the flowers more fragrant.
He wished her to be in his arms constantly.
Stroking her tender cheek,
he inhaled the heavenly scent of her hair.
He couldn't remember the days before her
and he didn't care.
He would often awake to watch her sleep,
her eyelids fluttering like butterfly wings,
in a slumber land of dreams.
He caught himself smiling at the
mere thought of this delicate soul,
contemplating all the wonderful
journeys’ her would share with her.
This infinite joy that had
burst into his world
and she was only nine days old.
