Before You Call
Help is on the way my Lord but not today
I know you need a lending hand
there is much here to do and I want to say
your son left his footprints in the sand
mine would have been there, had I been able to walk
but with the weight of the world on my shoulders
I could barely step on with all that I carried
sacks on my back were crammed with boulders.
if only I had to carry some stones or pebbles
my journey thru life would of been less of a load
hills to climb and rivers to cross were most rigorous
many seem to reappear as I traveled that unpaved road
He saw me struggling and sometimes hitting the dust
I waved him by to help others who had more need.
To fall without endeavors does not show my character of taste
a tired mind and body still has the capability to lead.
Though I did not leave my footprints in the sand
My hands reached out to others who were falling
I ask you Lord to let me stay upon this shore
to gain strength to leave footprints before your calling.
