Before the Day

what to call that silky time
where light slips away into grey strands across the way
and light fades
no stars
just that silky time of day
in the distance our mother calls us in
I drag my feet, sisters run ahead
ready for the light
I'm staying in this silky time, this soft and dreamy time
before the day begins to end
before the light
before the day
