Before Now

Times gone, forgotten Left in the past Harsh winds of life Have broken my mast. Swept no direction Lost in my pain Thoughts of happiness Now a faded old stain. Corners of loneliness Fraught every day Words of contentment Stand in my way. Shadows of grief Swallow my soul My mind falls deeper Never ending black hole. Swaddled in sadness No smiles laughs or cheer A stranger my reflection The future never clear. Don’t see myself As I did before Deepness of sorrow Right to the core. No light in the tunnel No light at the end No invitations To RSVP send. My life is on hold I don’t have the keys Many surround me But not one of them sees. Barbed wire held me Right from the start As clouds of grey Consume my heart. Feeling so desperate The hole has been dug Now nothing to stop me From pulling the plug.
