Before Fall's Memory is Lost

The amber canopy burns bright and high
A sudden rush of copper on the breeze
The crimson crowns are shaking on the trees
While sapphire shadows paint the evening sky

The heavy air is thick with smoke and frost
We watch the silver mist begin to crawl
A quiet chill is wrapped up in the fall
Before the summer's memory is lost

The sun-kissed forest whispers down
As auburn leaves fall softly to the floor
We stand together at the winter's door
And watch the season fade against the pane

The enclosed rhyme lends the poem a sense of gathering and holding autumn’s fleeting beauty. Amber, copper, and crimson glow against the chill of mist and frost, while “winter’s door” gives the ending a tender sense of shared farewell.
