Bed Time Routine
Each night, before I climb into my bed and fall asleep
Softly, silently, into their room I creep,
On pillows soft as clouds their heads they lay
Where they will sweetly dream the night away,
As I tip-toe to the beds in which they lie
I can hear their shallow, gentle, sleeping sighs,
A shaft of light shines through the door and I can see
A row of night-time soldiers that by day are dolls, and teddies
On guard throughout the night ‘til that first ray of morning sun
Ensuring that into their dreams, no nightmare dares to come
And, when I have seen that they are snug and tucked up tight
I tip-toe from the room again, turning off the landing light.
