I am haunted by a beautiful family who lost their precious angel baby boy to a drunk driver. That sweet family has never been the same. Thank you for writing this. I'm sure nobody wants to kill or hurt anyone in such a horrible way, just thinking it will never happen to them and they can handle it. Nobody can. This is a powerful poem.

Wow. That's so sad. Thank you for sharing their story. Drunk driving makes so many lives miserable including their own family and friends like the victims family and friends. Thanks for reading.

Karen, an intense write. Yes, they are a weapon on the road behind a wheel. Their addiction has gotten them so hooked they don't think about the other person except themselves. Thank you for stopping by and reading my poem.

People driving drunk is a sad crisis today. A decision to drive while intoxicated can cause lifelong regrets. Your well written poem does a good job of highlighting this problem. Evelyn

A very real and sad subject unfolds in your song today. Who knows why they do what they do but in the midst of feeling sorry for themselves, they never stop to realize they could be destroying another's life in the process.

Yes. I had a grandpa who use to drunk drive but he only would kill mailboxes. Still he got his license revoked on the regular.

Hi Karen, The problem that I have with the whole thing is the “driving” part. People are going to drink( if they're alcoholics get help) but why must they drink? Alcohol messes with logic and judgment ( in their minds they think they are sober enough to drive) what happened to the designated driver? In many cases, a designated driver is drunk too. Too many people died and their deaths could have been prevented if a drunk didn't get behind the wheel. Great job- Alexis

Right on Alexis. Drunk drivers are selfish and it seems laws still don't stop them. There is a breathilizer that can be put on an offenders vehicle which disables it if one is intoxicated. But the senators are in favor of the rights of drunk drivers over safety of the rest of us. I argued face to face with the head huncho. He said he did not want to keep a driver from their means of transportation to work! WTF?!The song was inspired by all this mess. I literally asked the senator how would he feel if his granddaughter was killed by a drunk driver? He still was on the side of protecting offenders rights! Write your senators.

Well done! I love this poem. Unfortunately, there will be more and more drinking and driving drivers and as a result of that, too many deaths, and parents crying and living like zombies as long as they live

Mesut I heavy heartedly agree with you. I use to volunteer on the Mothers Against Drunk Driving phone hotline, and in the courtroom advocate department, So many stories have become like my own. The one where father and son were killed (decapitated)and the driver following witnessed ended up traumatized. But due to this trauma he would reach out to the family and eventually meets marries his wife, a psychiatrist who help him with his feelings about that awful crash. I met his wife who was then later working at Red Cross, and their story of love was the only silver lining ever from such a violent death. Want to thank you for liking and caring. Sorry if this was too long.
