Because I Believe

I’ve been hurt
and I’ve been scarred
with wounds so deep,
I couldn’t even see.
I’ve been rejected
and I’ve been denied
that which mattered
most to me.

I overcame
because I believed.

I’ve been battered,
I’ve been bruised
during battles
of my past.
Clothes were tattered
and were torn.
So I prayed
it wouldn’t last.

I overcame
because I believed.

I will face
more mighty foes
with fear,
while standing high.
I, again,
will overcome
all those foes
or surely die.

Because I believe!
