I never knew about bullies until I started school,
and found out being different was a crime;
because I was part Ojibwe in a white world,
the name calling hurt my soul.
Staying by myself was my solution,
but the bullies would not be deterred;
I looked at the ground most of the time,
keeping the hurt deep inside.
As I aged bullying was part of my life,
but I learned to stand up for myself;
when I experienced it at work I just did my job,
and then it started on line with poetry soup.
I left poetry soup for a bit because of it,
deleted all my poetry for I felt unworthy to write;
but after pondering this problem in my life,
I decided to fight back, because a bully is a coward.
When at work someone said something mean,
I respond to them privately and that seemed to work;
returning to poetry soup, I decided to do the same,
because a bully wants attention and is probably hurting.
