Because Hokies Are Strong
This one day each year,
the nation comes together
to remember the loss of
one college
It brings pain and sorrow,
but happy memories
or those who died;
family, friends, strangers
The loss of 32 colleagues
is heavy in our hearts,
but still we manage to
keep on going
The lone 33 we might
hate, despise, but we
will learn to forgive over time
Because that's
what Hokies do;
forgive, but never
forget anyone or anything
along the path to winning
or losing
They learn to stay
strong, weeping and
crying only in
moments of need
Because Hokies are strong
We remember those who died,
some saving others, some....
just in the wrong place
A German teacher, a French
instructor, a robotics
professor, an aeronautical
engineer, and environmentalist,
and many students,
with many dreams
We may ask ourselves whys
Why did it happen to my dad?
Why did it happen to my daughter?
Why did it happen to my friend?
Why did it happen to this college?
And most importantly,
why did he do it?
We'll forgive, but never forget
Because that's
what Hokies do;
forgive, but never
forget anyone or anything
along the path to winning
or losing
They learn to stay
strong, weeping and
crying only in
moments of need
Because Hokies are strong
Hokies are strong
