Beauty Queen

Beauty Queen
Yes indeed, for all to see.

And what a doll you are.
Sun - lit colored ringlets in a row.

You do your little dance for the judges.
For all the world to see, you are the color of poetry.

Second on your talent, as you went strolling by them.
Walking in your sun bonnet and percale, singing along.

Big blue eyes to sparkle and shine.
Then one day they found you dead.

Seems God called you home at last.
Said, come rest your weary head.

Your name on the tombstone read:
     JonBenet Ramsey!

3/ 28/ 2012,,,, I put my 8month old daughter in about 4- 5 pageants. She was about 3 last time as I put her on stage, I thought no more of this.

Touching tribute to a little beauty who died in a senseless tragedy, may those responsible one day face their fate for this unsolved crime. Hugs

Hi Debbie, Not familiar with the story you speak of but I,ve been much for the beauty contest scene, pleased to hear you've pulled away from it now. Thanks for dropping by mine. You write interesting poems I'll call again. Take care, Richard

Before I got to the end I thought...sounds like Jon Benet.... sometimes weadore looking at pretty things but have to remeber they have flesh and feelings. Good decision on your daughter...they need to find power in more than just good looks. Thanks for stopping by and saying Hi oday. SuZ

Goodness your poem brings that whole story back to life. It's always great to hear from you! There are so many abusive things and terrible things that happen. I hope you feel lucky as I do to be where I am right now--somewhat old (62) and alive! (I estimate you at 21)! from your picture.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on beauty pageants, Debbie. I mirror your sentiments. There is more to life than inner beauty...however, we must admit that outer beauty is an asset to be admired...in the right way! :) Your little one just be quite a beauty! :)
