Notes About The Poem

Beautifully Broken

Beautifully Broken

I watched her as she stood in line.
I heard words that went unspoken.
I saw tracks left by her tears,
she's been so beautifully broken.

Was it a long long time ago?
I really cannot say.
Was it someone that she loved
that turned and walked away?

Was it some distant memory
that somehow haunts her still?
Or had her poor heart been betrayed
that almost broke her will.

It's not the things her heart's been through
or tragedy she's faced.
It's not some distant shattered dream
or things she can't erase.

The feeling that I get from her
is like hearing prayers she prayed.
I know what I'm seeing now
is in a choice she made.

She could have let her heart grow cold,
turned her back on God above.
Instead she chose to live again.
Instead she chose to love.

The beauty of a broken heart
as far as I can see.
It's in the choice to rise again
that's so beautiful to me

Yes, we live in a broken world, and some are more broken thatn others, but there is healing- not necessarily in the form you'd pray for,but it's there. greate write, Edwin. regards, Viv
