Beautiful People
Bad apples rise up to the top.
I've found this to be true,
And the people getting all the press
Are such bad apples too.
Good people go on quietly,
Just living giving lives.
Looking beneath the headlines
You'll find goodness still survives.
My grandma, widowed early,
Would have been considered poor,
But she bought wool to knit warm socks
For soldiers in the war.
Bad times bring out the best in folks
And the good do all they can.
In the Great Depression, Mom and Dad
Fed many a hungry man.
After floods or storms or hurricanes,
Kindly folks turn out in droves
To offer food and shelter
And in winter, heating stoves.
Forest fires, earthquakes, tsunamis,
Are tragic events indeed
And at opening their purses,
Good Americans will lead.
When fanatics attacked our Nation
With terror from the skies,
Good people from the whole wide world
Offered money and supplies.
Have you seen the Russian People's gift,
The grand monument called "The Tear"?
Wherever there is suffering,
The good folks will appear.
