Vibrant jeweled butterflies flutter in bright azure skies. I’ll sit and watch them for hours sipping nectar from flowers Wings like fragile church stained glass lift them on a zephyr breeze Nature’s bounty can’t surpass precious moments such as these (nature) Eight lines Poetry Contest Sponsored by Joseph May Checked with how many syllables and rhymezone 5/28/18

I loved your comparison of the butterfly wings to stained glass Jan. There is so much beauty in nature. Your poem captures that beauty so wonderfully. Congratulations on your win. This gem is going into my faves! : ) xxoo

'The writer's canvas is the reader's mind...'. Indeed! The painting your poem painted in my mind is a beauty, Jan. I love the line, 'Wings like fragile church stained glass'. Superb. Congrats on your win, my friend. All the best always. :) hugs ~ Artsie

Gorgeous imagery, and such a seamless flow---You'd never know that you had to get 8 irritating 'vocabulary words' in there. Should do very well in the contest, one would think. Best always, Gershon

In the last few years we see fewer and fewer in the gardens and also bees and wasps(not that I'm going to miss them) also see fewer birds. It is a worry:-( hugs Jan x

My first thought when I saw the photograph was a stained glass butterfly and then reading your poem found where that is what you saw. Your poem fits perfectly with the photograph, Jan Well done and good luck:)
