Beast Within

I feel through the darkness
My empty hand searching
I can smell his fetid breath
Hear his leaden feet echoing my heartbeat
He approaches, in near perfect silence
In my last moments, I quell
I rage
He has lived in my shadow
 Haunting my steps
Now, I shall be consumed
As profile as the rest
Unimportant as any other
His victim
He, my own creation, my own ruin
He, my cowardice
My fear, uncertainty and my hate
What haunts me?
Me. The evil I didn’t have the courage to halt
 I feel his claws rip
His teeth pierce my soul
I am lost
Condemned to the dungeons below
