Bears Will Kill You



Bears will kill you, my daddy said
They've got big claws and roam in pairs
All I knew were brown bears named Ted
At four I called 'em Teddy Bears

They've got big claws and roam in pairs
That didn't scare me so much then
At four I called 'em Teddy Bears
Later I learned of Gentle Ben

That didn't scare me so much then
The world was such a great big place
Later I learned of Gentle Ben
And put a smile upon my face

The world was such a great big place
I could just wander here and there
And put a smile upon my face -
Or sit and rest without a care

I could just wander here and there -
Then I grew up and couldn't stop
Or sit and rest without a care -
I had six boys that called me Pop

There were bears at every turn

Money I made just seemed to burn

Cheryl Hoffman April 14, 2016 at 7:35 PM Hmmm Larry, who do the 'bears' stand for in your poem? This is a pretty serious one from you! :) Larry Bradfield April 14, 2016 at 9:11 PM HaHa..long story. I got fascinated by the Pantoums written by the Silent One and the process you go through (see his definition of pantoum). So I tried to write a couple and this is the second. I have learned to follow the procedure, but not how to make it go where I want. TThis was supposed to turn funny, but it turned serious. Bears represent "adulthood". Thanks for your interest, Cheryl
