Beach Traffic

The THUNDERING HERD of beach goers, like bison of the hunt. Echoes of Doppler caterwauling down the two lane. Each one, dodging, weaving, horns blowing, vie to be first. For the Sounds of Summer contest © Apr 14 2010

"caterwauling" -- What a cool word. (Even in a cattle-raising family, I had not seen it before, and had to check the dictionary. This counts as my new word of the day. Fun times!) ...And your observation of the beach traffic is right on, especially during bike week. I thought of Harleys when I saw the word "Thundering herd".

LOL -- You should see what it's like here in Daytona, Charles!! The "herd" heads down A1A on motorcycles and the noise is heard 24/7. Great poem! Love, Carolyn

Good luck in the contest! Va. Beach was fab in the 60's, great in the 80's and now a summer long traffic jam. But I still love the beach. Vince
