Youth, I think it's time, on your bike to climb to rapture sublime. Feel wind on your face, freedom to embrace, so that you may fly. Watch the world go by - on your two-wheeled high! Turn left or turn right to a newfound site. The sun's a delight, a shining jewel. A beach trip is cool. Take the day off school and your pleasure, chase. Youth, you must embrace.

I like your advice. But as a teacher, absconding classes is greatly objected. :) I am sure, as a youth, you must have undertaken similar adventures. Great entry for the contest. All the best, dear David.

Yep, it's based on my youth, and my memories of my youth. I would never advice anyone to take my path. I dropped out of high school, moved out, worked on horrible jobs, and somehow, found myself in college with a math degree. I had to learn the hard way that an education is important. I think this poem contains a fallacy, it implies that education and fun are either/or. You can have both!

Never had the nerve to take a day off school, yet I think your advice is cool. Everyone should be free to live life happy as a bumble bee… Beryl

Aw, too bad. I never broke a rule until the last week of ninth grade, then I broke the rule all the time, and cut class too much, but I did have some great bike rides!

I like this poem, but I thought you had been a teacher. Take a day off school? I had thought I'd be struck by lightning.

I got my teaching credential, but did not teach until I tutored on a part time basis at Mathnasium, post-retirement, but yeah, probably not good advice, though, once in a while, I think it's ok to break the rules to have a little fun. I broke the rules too much in high school, cutting class. I would have been upset if my son was like me -lol.

Freedom and joy of the youth very nicely penned the poem.Wish the best.
