Be Thou Tempted Not, Dear Soul

Be thou tempted not, dear soul, By all that glitters before thy eyes; Luxuries they are, but the cheapest goal That thou shalt bag in the nets of Paradise. However at thy sight vanities take toll And temptations within thy bounds arise, To the spite of them all thy objections roll —O, be thou not deceived by their lies! For if not, thou shalt like a kindled coal Burn forever in an inferno that never dies. Therefore, be thou foolish not, dear soul; All that glitters at thee is not Paradise.
