Be Thankful For the Joy

For tinsel trees, lights so bright, and a man in red who rides a sleigh led by deer – delivering things to make kids smile; for candy canes and gingerbread! Be thankful for the joy the Christmas season brings. For sweet holiday romance and the mistletoe, family togetherness and a choir that sings glad tidings, causing hearts with love to overflow. Be thankful for the joy the Christmas season brings. For the reason we recall what the season’s for: for one star seen from afar by three wise kings that led them to the miracle child Mary bore. Be thankful for the joy the Christmas season brings. I love to see the joy Santa Claus gives to the little ones. This is the last year my granddaughter will believe in Santa Claus. Her mommy baked cookies and we left Santa a glass of milk and a large peanut butter cookie that was gone the next morning to her amazing thrill. She couldn’t wait to tell me about it. I loved your poem Andrea. Sorry this comment is belated. Before we couldn’t see past POTW poems. I am happy I didn’t miss this one. Congratulations! Blessings xxoo

Nicely written, Andrea, this poem has the feel of a Kyrielle with the repeating refrain at the end of each stanza. Congrats on POTW. Hope you and your family had a good Christmas. John

Feel the same way but there is something special about this time and the story of a baby and family brought into a place to keep them safe with all different people joining to create safety and joy. Saw the stars last week, so always feel there is something of a presence when we join together to care for others and the earth. Lovely poem

Nice words, Andrea. I’m not religious, but I do feel we should see more reference to what Christmas actually is... and not just a massive spend-a-thon. Good luck in contest, but I suspect this poem doesn’t need ‘luck’ All the best for Christmas. Terry

I am not religious either. But I was raised that way and I think it does mold character!
