Battle of the Mind

Sometimes I wonder...
Is this dreadful life worth living
Coexisting with these horrid echoing voices
Inside this twisted demonic head

Shall my voice ever raise a whisper
Dare I retaliate for my own self worth
Yet I choose to slowly die inside instead

These scars...
They show the pain I've felt
Beyond the wickedness that lies with me
Where the river of red once flowed freely

Shall they mistake my pain for ignorance
Dare I not be deserving of the sunlight as you
You can't comprehend my desolation completely

I'm only human...
Lying in the shadows you have cast before me
Contemplating the fate of my existence
Pondering the escape of my unforgiven pain

Shall these tears transform this heart to stone
Thine own pride rest solely in solitude
Hidden, never to be tortured or burdened again

We carry our scars with pain and pride, both the internal and the externat scars. We can most definitely rise like a Phoenix and beat ourselves and external influences. Beautiful poem you have written, take care! Welcome to PoetrySoup :)
