Basic Needs

Food, shelter and water
Basic needs of life.
But not enough
For anyone to thrive.
Touch, warmth and love
Better serve the need.
A smile, a hand, a hug
Wouldn’t you agree?
Survival alone
Not enough to feel alive
Shameful so many
Are so deeply deprived.
More important today
A sense of humor is high
On the list of the things
We need to get by.
Expressing ourselves
In creative ways.
Perfect outlets are few
In choices these days.
Friends and family
Love through it all.
They see the need
In the writing on the wall.

You should have posted this on Father's Day as so many seem to think they've done their job just by providing the necessities of life! Aloha! Rico
