Bartering
Please leave me, breath, if I cannot inhale
the whispers from my lover’s lips once more.
Unless allowed to gaze in azure eyes,
may sight be taken from me, I implore.
Pray limbs, collapse that fail to carry me
back to the only one I wish to hold.
The scent of passion lingering on skin,
is sweeter than the poets ever told.
I’d rather starve, possess a bone-dry cup
than live without a kiss to quench my thirst.
Without this precious love, I won’t survive.
The heart within my chest will simply burst
I offer every sense I might possess
to be allowed just one more sweet caress.
