Barefoot

BAREFOOT

A little girl
Came barefoot
Into my empty garden one day.

Her hair floating in the wind
Got caught on my thorn hedge, but
She pushed past the barrier, and in
And made herself at home.

She passed by my roses
And her tiny fingers made daisy chains.

She left my pathway
And her unprotected feet marked my soil.

Somehow it all fitted.
My garden was complete
With her present.
