 Anaya’s Banned Book Club
(is Based on  Velshi’s  ‘Banned Book Club’   Saturdays  on MSNBC)
is a haven for literary rebels and courageous readers who dare to explore the pages that others have sought to suppress. In a dimly lit corner of a quaint bookstore, Anaya curates a collection of works that have faced censorship, controversy, and condemnation. From classics like "The Grapes Of Wrath" and "The Bell Jar" to contemporary novels challenging societal norms, the club thrives on the power of the written word to provoke thought and stir debate. Each meeting is a journey through forbidden narratives, where members discuss the impact and relevance of these books in today's world, fostering a community united by a shared love for the freedom of expression.

  • Fight against this
  • Growing wave, more books will be banned on these motive

“Poetic and powerful, I know Why the Cage Bird Sings will touch hearts and change minds for as long as people read. Liberates the reader into life simply because Maya Angelou confronts her own life with such a moving wonder, such a luminous dignity”—James Baldwin

“One of America’s most popular writer’s and public figures with a great speaking voice, how ironic~sing birdie sing”—I Am Anaya

Banned Book
“I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou memoir
Her childhood stories bring tears to the eye They’re of her overcoming difficulties In an abusive family life The subjects in racist societies Molestation and racism are two reasons why Traumatization had caused her to be MUTE They ban books for the harsh reality they deny Through reading literature, she becomes astute And expresses her pain and sorrows Poetry was her outlet and therapy For writing and better tomorrows

It does make the effort, notes I scribbled that need to be constructed into prose I suppose, lol. I am thrilled you stopped by, Duke, this is for those who care about the gross banning of precious books!

Well well, book banning.' Hmm nothing is new Under the sun.? Oh yes I read it in a volume.' Maya Angelou quite a character..She was also A lady of the night I read it in a book again.' One Wonders on why she did such? Was it purely for Money or? Was it a carthesis of some type or A capitulation.? Yet she got to authorship.' And Got awards.' All through writers who put their Thoughts and feelings down in books.' Maybe Fate should be left sole decider on book bans? All the best Anaya.'

You hit it right on the head, Joe. The questions one asks, the curiosity, the likeness, resemblance, relatable to others who will be INSPIRED by her! You as a writer who jot your thoughts down and post them here as encouragement and enlighten, to inspire others like you, to WRITE and not be banned for doing so. Thank you, for your comment it all helps us to understand how important books are. :)

Trying to remember the movie. But all I can remember is the name. I'm glad you took up the issue it indicates universal concern not just the one sidedness of denial of the truth.

I've never seen it. Anyone can complain about any book, in their opinion harmful, and get a lawyer to have the book removed, just because in their opinion it’s harmful...kinda like poetry, if one doesn't agree with its interpretation, then kindly leave it to others who relate to it and could find comfort. Ty, John for commenting and expressing your thoughts on the subject, much appreciated! xo

Thank you for standing up for freedom of expression, Anaya. It's good for our minds, nourishes our intellect, and adheres to the American spirit of advancing our understanding and bolstering our sense of humanity. You fight the good fight! Faving, Robert

Ty, so many books have been banned by closed minds with no understanding of how youth relate to similar stories as theirs. Fave is much appreciated, see you next week, cheers

Aw, thank you so much, Abdullah! You are one of many who call out a nod for their appreciation of one of America's most eloquent and relevant writers. Thank you, you are quite sagacious!

Strange world we live in. On the one hand morality is becoming virtually non-existent, on the other hand cancel culture and book bans are all the rage. In Russia, the New World translation Bible is banned along with our literature and website. Everything's topsy-turvy. Nice poem Anaya

I added on your blog. Thought I'd start a virtual Book Club, Saturdays only...they speak for themselves! I jammed both banning and her story together in a hurry. Ty
