Banging An Empty Drum

Didn't know where she was going
or remember where she came from

  Standing around on street corners
    banging an empty drum

A gent in a tux espied her
She thought, 'How could I be so dumb?'

  'I was supposed to become a grown-up'
She never ate cake ~ now stuck with crumbs
