Ballad About Autumn
Have you ever visited those places,
Where the Autumn goes away from us?
Where on the magical scales are
All our thoughts, our senses and plans?
There TIME – the eternal Weigher,
Who is always relentless and incorruptible,
As the most greedy usurer
Weighs our hours and minutes.
There azure expanse flows down from sky
To the castle’s dry leaves.
There my Autumn with golden hair
Sits near a window.
Her eyelashes are heavy,
Her eyes are always sad.
She has come to this place
To be rescued from malicious insults.
The furious wind shouted curses at her.
A blizzard also threatened her.
But Autumn still waited:
Suddenly he will come and say, «Hi!»
And will rescue her from troubles and evil,
He – her eternal fiance August.
And, as always, he will sing beautiful songs
And will give many red flowers to her.
But all is over!
She must hide in her castle very quickly!
She has gone away.
Grief has hung above the old castle
But in one year
Cheerful August will return to her!
Flowers and songs will be again,
And there will be her beautiful love
And after that – mad fury of her enemies –
of the cold wind and malicious blizzard.
