Bad Trip

Every day, same routine out of bed, in the latrine Cup'a'joe, out the door I go Work's a bad trip, but I owe Phony-smile time: 'How was your weekend' ('Still datin' that tired old girlfriend') Jumpin' through hoops way too small insufferable boss, cocky know-it-all Liberty bell rings at half-past-five the hour the dead come alive Off to the bar for a tall cold one hand on the trigger ~ all done

Some poets think they are really hot stuff? They post a poem. So what? Give me a break.))) There are soldiers, men and women with their lives on the line. A job is far more demanding, and those who labor deserve our honor, not scowls. I know teachers who hung themselves. Nurses who blew their brains out, Anyway G, poem has a fantastic rhythm. Bas Noach..shhh. Don’t tell Hamas. Hemingway put a rifle in his mouth. Need I day more.

Interesting about Hemingway... I didn't know that about him... All I knew is how insecure he was. No big surprise, therefore, as to how he met his end.

Never drink with one hand on the trigger cos you just might shoot your toes off… or worse. I’ve had a few jobs like that, GW… I used to conjure entire - very lengthy - songs or poems in my head, never wrote a word down. Many are now lost to time but one or two I later typed up from memory… a few of which are on these boards.

Those kind of jobs teach us, uh, teach us, er, ahem, teach us, eh, er, um, ... What do they teach us anyway? lol.

I once had a time clock job in my early years. It felt like I was a robot on an assembly line. But I must admit, having days that ran on autopilot was good for creativity and imagination.

I hear, Jerry. Relatively mindless labor frees the brain up for creativity. I've experienced that myself -- although after almost a year on the same line, that others only spent 3-4 months on, I'd had it... Thanks for the insightful comment. ~ Gershon

Many walk with hand over the trigger. Monotony of life, work pressures and booze makes men unreasonable, leading to crime. Great representation of the modern times, dear Gershon. Am I close to what you really intended?

I think you're very close, Valsa... Please don't get any closer to that trigger, OK? Keep smiling, gw

Sadly, many people I know live their days this way. No wonder they want to pull the trigger. I feel for those folks. This was a clever but poignant poem. Gave me pause. Have a splendid day, Sara
