Bad Recipe

Today I saw a recipe
and thought it looked delish,
Chocolate balls with crackle
tops sat pretty on the dish.

Crispy on the outside,
fudgy in the center,
what delightful morsels
could possibly be better?

Mixing the ingredients,
the dough was stiff to make,
but I followed to the letter,
rolled the balls and baked.

When I peeked into the oven,
the cookies hadn’t spread,
still in rolled brown balls
and I felt a little dread.

Sure enough, when done
and cooled in rows like ducks
I found them hard and dry
just like little hockey pucks!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. Yes, I did chuck that recipe, although I might have tinkered with it and improved it, I didn't.

Hello Barbara Peckham, so nice to meet you. Yes it does sound to me to be a bad recipe. Throw it out and start again. Enjoy your day my friend. /Darlene/
