Back When We Were Kids
Back When We Were Kids. Song.
.
Looking through the mirror of my mind
Back to a better time
When we were kids
The things we did
And how we lived
When time
Was on our side
.
Cycling on our chopper bikes
Camping out all night
Hanging out
With our friends
Long summer school holidays
Long walks that lasted all day
A dozen cowboys a dozen Robin Hoods
Acting out the movies we’d seen
Often up to no good
.
How we’d practice our Spanish guitars all day
To impress the girls
And make dens in the farmer's hay
Everyone was a superhero
And real cool
The teachers ignored the kids
Who bullied us at school
kids with few cares young and free
Just like kids used to be
.
Back then we were allowed to have a childhood
And not grow up so fast
We still dared to dream
We never had much but we still had our self-esteem
We really lived
And kids didn’t have kids
.
I dreamed of being a spaceman
A fireman
And a man who drove an ice cream van
Now I’m grown and a well read man
But I still don’t understand
The world today
And how TV and technology
Has taken so many childhoods
Away
.
How we’d practice our Spanish guitars all day
To impress the girls
And make dens in the farmer's hay
Everyone was a superhero
And cool
The teachers ignored the kids
Who bullied us at school
kids with few cares young and free
Just like kids used to be…….
