How we’d practice our Spanish guitars all day To impress the girls And make dens in the farmer's hay Everyone was a superhero And real cool The teachers ignored the kids Who bullied us at school kids with few cares young and free Just like kids used to be . Back then we were allowed to have a childhood And not grow up so fast We still dared to dream We never had much but we still had our self-esteem We really lived And kids didn’t have kids . I dreamed of being a spaceman A fireman And a man who drove an ice cream van Now I’m grown and a well read man But I still don’t understand The world today And how TV and technology Has taken so many childhoods Away .
