Back to the Void

On this paper you’ll read what killed our humanity The simple answer: it died to corporate greed Our race is alive, our morals are not But we’re just simply doing what we were taught We murder and steal, then fine and judge Our hypocrisy is limitless, criminals don’t even run We point the finger, right and left And we’ll point it till we have nothing left If you find this note on a rock Look to the horizon to see our Earth I don’t even know what’ll happen to me Maybe we’ll figure it out and be actually free But if you only see space, say goodbye to the human race

Dear Erin, Oh what a powerful lament for what’s been lost-a world where corporate greed has hollowed out our humanity and left us pointing fingers instead of finding solutions. Yet, in your closing lines, there’s a flicker of hope: maybe, just maybe, we’ll wake up and reclaim what matters before it’s too late. Congrats on POTD! Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Thank you! Yes, I do believe there is hope. There's always hope. In the bottom of Pandora's box, past all the hate and fear, there's a twinkling light. :)

Yes, the answer is simple indeed. So sad to see the path that so many have chosen. Congratulations Erin, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Oh, welcome to Poetry Soup, my dear friend. Hugs, Brandy

I know! I feel that most of it is from fear and lack of hope. We all need to get on the same page as a global population. Thank you!

Ain’t that the truth. Excellent penning, a fave for me. Of our species I like to say we’re “too smart to function”. xomo

Thank you, the writing was a little pessimistic, but that was partly the point of the prompt.
