Back On the Path
My heart sunk
My shoulders slumped.
My determination deflated like a balloon.
It was like being hit in the kidney
by a heavyweight fighter with no warning.
I was down for the count.
I felt like giving up.
I crawled into a ball, riving in
pain on the ground until I fell asleep.
In the morning I woke up to the
pain that still gripped me.
Despite the pain I got to my knees
and prayed to my God, who is faithful
to deliver me from all my woes.
As I prayed my shoulders lifted,
my heart rose,
my deflated determination inflated,
and God sent relief to my kidneys like a good
medicine.
I got back up, got back on the path, and kept
on walking with Jesus as my guide.
