Baby, It's Cold Outside

Political correctness Sometimes goes a bit too far, For certain things should be accepted Just the way they are. The controversy swirling now About a certain song Recorded many years ago Appears, to me, just wrong. The lyrics, in the "Me too" glare May seem like they do prove A woman's being pressured By a man who's on the move. She claims she has to leave And he convinces her to stay Ostensibly for sex, though It's not black and white, but gray. In 1944 the words Were funny, cute and flirty But underneath a microscope They're creepy, even dirty. There's so much we can focus on Within the "Me too" zone That when it comes to classic songs, They should be left alone.

I'm definitely on board with this one Ilene. No confederate flag, statues coming down, no prayer in schools or pledge of allegiance! Whatever happened to curing cancer, world peace, etc. crazy and just stupid!......well written and rhymed!.....pat

Isn't this whole thing just the essence of ridiculousness!!!!! If they want to take on something, how about all those m-f rap songs of the last 20 years or so?! Those are SO much worse.... The height of haughty hypocrisy, this!! Boo for P.C. Yea for Ilene! :) gw

Ilene, I couldn't agree with you more. This is really getting out of hand and to pick on an old wonderful song like that...have these people listened to any of the gangsta rap...talk about harassing women. Nice one my friend.

You have a point. Why destroy someone else's artwork when you can allow it to be itself? Seldom do remakes turn out well.

Though I'm not familiar with the song, I've heard "Every Breath You Take" is about a stalker. Funny how this isn't how the song originally struck me, but not this suggestion lingers and there's a Jason Mraz song that could be interpreted this way. You make a great point, Ilene, in this compelling verse. Best wishes for the holidays, Carolyn

if people just listened to the music and ignored the movie clip video there would be no controversy...todays rap music is full of shit but the 'me too'ers' don't say beans...they pick on the oldies but ignore the present
