Babe
Reminiscence-
of your breath,
your cuddling arms
and your soul-searching eyes
you linger.
You're always there
like the rubble after an explosion-
the ash from tedious fights.
You're luminescent.
The kind who stays
yet when all's close-
you flee,
you take the best of me
and I envy you-
snagging back your heart-
challenging your emotions
so they don't show-
their oppressed by your grace,
forever in control-
where I can't.
I can't hold back my heart.
It slips out at the slightest emotion,
when it feels right-
and though it may not be,
though I'll try to scoop it up before it falls-
onto the cold hardwood
I risk it all.
And no matter the ending
there's always that satisfaction
that I did indeed love
which was far better than holding back
I just wish
you would have done the same.
