Awkward Unease Is
when a friend eagerly tosses
a hackneyed joke that you're
sure will puff out in midair;
or when you contrive a laughter
and he knows you know
you're just humoring him;
or when he dishes out more
jokes believing you're asking
for more when you're not;
and when you laugh at his being
so dense, and he laughs at
your thin pretense!
