Away From Me

Where are my memories
Where have they gone
New images come
But do not last long
Fear of loss fades with each passing day
As my memories lie still in decay
My journey is unknown to me
As my past is slowly set free
I say with love this one last time
To all who have followed and follow still
To names and faces and places lost
To all that has not yet been burdened by cost
To loyal and fearful friends and love's devotion
I am neither brave nor empty of emotion
As I wave from a distant window
And smile a knowing gaze
This one last time before the smoldering haze.
