Away
Friends in the distance,
we laugh from afar.
You are on the other side,
of the world.
I am humbled by the miles,
knowing we will never meet,
but...
I am sure that...
we already,
have.
Maybe not at the market or the mall,
not a church nearby,
but surely again in heaven.
For now, the place...
we race to;
The bottom of the sea, to have tea.
The top of a high mountain,
to look out and see...
A field of flowers,
taller than every tree,
ever planted on your continent,
or mine.
The best parks on Sunday afternoons,
the best festivals at the highlights of each season.
Perhaps not beside each other,
but closer still, as we are aware of
just how far away life is,
and how close we can be,
just by being friends.
Soon, we will be sisters...
You and I.
It has already happened.
Somewhere along the path,
God smiled,
and we laughed at the same time.
That is how I know.
for Jennifer and all my wonderful friends too far to come to tea...
your cup is waiting...
