Notes About The Poem

Away

Away

Friends in the distance,
we laugh from afar.
You are on the other side,
of the world.

I am humbled by the miles,
knowing we will never meet,
but...
I am sure that...
we already,
have.

Maybe not at the market or the mall,
not a church nearby,
but surely again in heaven.
For now, the place...
we race to;
The bottom of the sea, to have tea.
The top of a high mountain,
to look out and see...
A field of flowers,
taller than every tree,
ever planted on your continent,
or mine.

The best parks on Sunday afternoons,
the best festivals at the highlights of each season.
Perhaps not beside each other,
but closer still, as we are aware of
just how far away life is,
and how close we can be,
just by being friends.

Soon, we will be sisters...
You and I.
It has already happened.
Somewhere along the path,
God smiled,
and we laughed at the same time.
That is how I know.

for Jennifer and all my wonderful friends too far to come to tea...
your cup is waiting...

Hi Ann, I have just read your beautiful poem, thank-you. I wish with all my heart we were near - you are such a true person. I am also certain we met. You think and write as if I was holding your pen and you mine - friends like you are pearls of wisdom and ever eternal. Love Jennifer.

You may want to bring cotton... as I write. That is why I sit in back at church and often mouth words... lol.. hugs and more hugs... sing on.. I went caroling yesterday at folks homes. It was heartbreaking and lovely. Not my voice... the people. God Bless. Hugs. Ann

You will be sitting next to me in church on Christmas morning - when we sing Christmas Carols, my voice I hope will carry over the waves to wish you and your dear ones all you heart ever desired and a blessed peaceful happy Christmas Day.

i love this my friend...i am sure we have met and we will have tea again when it is our time to join hands at the big table and sip on warm cups of tea over conversation until then, just keep sending those smiles and we can smile back and await... hugs :)

Hugs my dear friend... tightly... closely... and forever... God give you every happiness, everything that is important to you... bright and beautiful... as your sprit, so they all match... and sparkle... Ann
